Review: Maybelline Master Sleek Brow Mascara

Working in boots has an added advantage of seeing new products being put out on the shelves as soon as they are released. Yesterday we put out the Maybelline Master Sleek Brow Mascara, and I snapped one up as soon as I could. At £4.99 you wouldn’t expect miracles from this product, but it claims to have a ‘long wearing formula that won’t streak, clump or flake’.  So I thought I’d do a quick review after testing it out.

The brush has a ball shape on the end for easier combing through eyebrows to give a natural finish. My brows ended up looking well groomed and still natural; I could hardly tell I had put anything on. I will definitely be adding this into my make up bag to use every day, I think it is a great new product from Maybelline.

Collection Review: Max Factor Wild Collection

In July 2013, Max Factor released a new range of products; this included the wild mega volume mascara, the wild shadow pots and the wild shadow eye shadow pencil. I picked up one each of these products from boots in a ‘3 for 2’ event.
The mascara has an hourglass shaped wand, designed to reach every lash, and it definitely does, however I feel it makes my inside lashes appear too long and unnatural. The mascara claims to be water resistant and give three times the volume, both of which are probably untrue, although it does build the lashes up well and stays on all day. After applying the mascara, my lashes looked instantly longer and darker and it was obvious I was wearing mascara. Overall I think this is a good, quality drug store mascara, although I would not use it every day, it’s nice to use occasionally for days where I want to look more ‘made up’.

The shadow pots are by far my favourite in the collection, with thirteen colours to collect; I was spoilt for choice and will definitely be going back for more next time I go shopping. I wore burnt bark all day to test out how long it lasted, and to my surprise it was still there at the end of the day! The colour pots are highly pigmented and have lots of great shades to choose from. Overall I think these eye shadow pots could be used for day and night and are a make up bag necessary because of the quality and large variety of colours.
Finally the shadow pencil, there are again a large variety of colours, with eight to collect all together. Although they do last well, because of the shimmer to them, they are not as easy to wear during the day. All of the colours are metallic; meaning pulling these off on a day to day situation would be much more difficult than the shadow pots. I chose the neutral shade of Caramel Rage and still found this colour hard to wear in the day time. Overall I would choose the shadow pots over the pencils any day.

Although the collection features three very good, very wearable products, I feel slightly let down by Max Factor as the products don’t make me want to wear them every day, like many other products do. However I would recommend trying them, as they are of a high quality and worth the cheap prices!

Review: L’Oreal Colour Riche Collection Privée

Hey Guys!

So L'Oreal has recently brought out a new, limited edition brand of lipsticks known as Collection Privée. The collection consists of eight lipsticks, each designed to suit the skin colour of the star it was created for. The eight stars included in the collection are; Frieda Pinto, Julianne Moore, Jane Fonda, Fan Binging, Eva Longoria, Liya Kebede, Ines De La Fressange and Doutzen Kroes.

I picked up three of the colours from my local Boots on a 2 for £14 offer (original price £8.19)

I think the packaging is absolutely gorgeous, its matte black with gold trim and gold writing, very elegant and sophisticated and suits the Hollywood personalities it is trying to represent.

But anyway, onto the actual product, the lipstick itself is sheer with a glossy finish. They do tint your lips, but are not as pigmented as other lipsticks, meaning they still look very natural which I think is great as it makes them wearable everywhere and would make a good back to school lipstick!
The texture of the lipstick is really creamy, and they apply to lips easily, making them feel moisturised, however the product can feel a little heavy, unlike many lipsticks that feel natural and light.

The three colours I picked up were Eva, Julianne and Doutzen, Julianne being my favourite of the three.

Eva’s shade is the darkest of the three; it is a dark pink shade and is also the least glossy of the three.

Doutzen’s lipstick is the lightest of the three, a sheer, pale pink colour and is more tailored to her tanned skin, hence why it doesn't suit my pale face!

Finally, Julianne’s colour is a reddish-pink, very sheer and glossy. I find it looks very natural because of its sheerness which is the main reason this shade is my favourite.

Also in the Collection Privée collection, the women have a nail polish and blush to match their skin tones, however I haven’t seen these in England’s drug stores yet, fingers crossed they’ll be available soon!

Bye Guys and have a nice week!

An Introduction

Hi Guys!

Initially I planned for my very first post to be beauty related for you, but I thought it might be better to do a quick introduction to myself and my blog.

My name is Jess, and this is my blog. On this blog I will be posting mainly beauty related posts, such as product reviews, top 10’s or something similar.  I may also occasionally include posts about other things in life that I enjoy, it may be a day out somewhere, a non-beauty related product that I love or a spontaneous post that could be about anything!

I will try and post at least once a week, depending on how busy things get, but you can expect a beauty post very soon.

Until then, have a nice day!
